Presentation Night.

It was to congratulate the NW u16s for their efforts beating the Scarlets, Cardiff Blues North and competing well and coming so close to beating the Ospreys and Newport Dragons.
The team were all given a trophy which were presented by Robin McBride.

The annual rugby match between North Wales under 16 and the Llanelli Scarlets was played on Sunday August 26th 2007. There were seven Pwllheli players in the squad-
Rhodri James, Gareth Jones, Daniel Owen, Jack Roberts, Deio Brunelli, Ben Taylor a Rhodri Jones.
North Wales Under 16s make history against the Scarlets.
In simmering heat at Llanidloes on Sunday August 26th 2007, a very exciting North Wales side took on the Scarlets in this annual fixture. The previous results achieved by the Norths’ All Blacks (with only three defeats in the past 4 years) attracted a large crowd in anticipation of an interesting game.
The much bigger Scarlets pack were able to secure ample ball from both lineout and scrum from the kick off and North Wales had to defend gallantly for the first 25 minutes as wave after wave of Scarlets attack were thwarted. The back row of Ben Taylor (captain), Steven Dean and Harrison Crowe worked tirelessly to hold back the swarming red shirts.
Just before half time the Scarlets at last got their reward with a well worked push over try. The heroic defence of back line Will Morecombe, Jack Roberts, Deio Brunelli, George North, Callum Bennett, Michael Bagnull and Shaun Condon had tackled everything in a red shirt and were more than pleased to go in at half time only 5 points in arrears.
The start of the second half saw the introduction of Daniel Owen to the back row with Harrison Crowe moving to the second row. From the kick off good possession was secured by the North and with the pack looking better equipped started to build their phases. The powerful Rhodri Jones started to punch holes in the Scarlets defence.
With close support from Josh Woods, Ed Gill and Tom Bond the North won clean ball just inside the opposition half. Outside half Jack Roberts passed to the rampaging George North, who broke through and found the blistering looping support of Jack Roberts on hand who passed on to the ever available Ben Taylor to score.
With the conversion missed the game was set at five points a-piece with 20 minutes to go. Possession was keenly fought with the Scarlets starting to regain more ball. Showing some frustration at the North’s uncompromising defence the Reds outside half fired out a speculative pass, which was snatched out of the air by the classy Jack Roberts who showed the Scarlets back line a clean pair of heels to run 60 metres to score by the posts.
Shaun Condon converted to make the score 12-5. The last 10 minutes of the game saw the Scarlets come close several times but this North Wales side have a togetherness and collective will to win that is a credit to them, the coaches and parents involved. The final whisle blew and for the first time a North Wales U16 side had taken the scalp of the mighty Scarlets.
Mr Mostyn Richards, performance director for the WRU rewarded this wonderful win by guaranteeing this team the right to play the other regions over the next few months. This will enable the North Wales players to have an unprecedented exposure to the Welsh U16 selectors. We wish the boys all the best in those games.
The dates for the games against the other Districts are as follows : Dragons, September 26th; Blues North, November 7th; Ospreys, November 21st and Blues South, December 19th.

This will be at the usual time of 6pm at the Club.
Please remember that the Summer Scheme starts for two weeks commencing Monday August 13th for two weeks. Age ranges strictly limited to over eight years of age.
We can be flexible on the upper age limit of 14.

Junior section tour to Ireland 2005.
A total of 88 young players,under 12,under 13 and under 14 teams and their families
travelling in two comfortable coaches from BERWYN COACHES TREFOR visited
Ireland during the schools half term to challenge Irish rugby teams of the same age
groups.
The tour party were based in Dublin and travelled to their scheduled games in
NAVAN,NAAS and TERANURE COLLEGE.(The club already have links with TERANURE
having played them at senior level.Our claim to fame is that Glyn Hick scored four
tries in this match even though he had over indulged on the ferry .That's my
boy!!!!!! Alan Hodgson also played a season for them a while back.).
After a very rough crossing of the Irish Sea the first games for the teams were
against NAVAN.The under 14 had a convincing win of 35-5 while the under 13 had a
close challenge but were victorious in the end with five tries.Unfortunately the
under 12s were beaten by seven tries to nil.
The following evening the action was at NAAS R.F.C.It was another convincing win
for the under 14s-36 to 6.They scrummaged well and ran fluidly.The under 13s also
won again by seven tries to nil.The evening match saw our under 12s pip their
opponents by 3 tries to 2 in a game that saw end to end rugby played by two good
teams in difficult conditions.
The final game of the tour was played at TERENURE COLLEGE in Dublin.This was an
under 13 match and a very close encounter decided only by a conversion by the
home team which gave them a narrow 19-17 victory.
By this time Pwllheli players were tired after the travelling and the closely scheduled
games but they gave their all and will be far better from the experience.
The club have been buying by prior order only Kooga Vortex jackets and trousers.

can include the purchasers name which will be printed on the jacket and
